New Client Special:

As a mom and business owner, I know just how valuable time is, and I don't take deadlines lightly. I respect the work you have put into your writing and the time it has taken to get it to this stage—you are so close! I will not waste your time or mine. When we agree on a timeline, I stick to it. You can count on me to deliver on time (or early!), without sacrificing quality. Life's too short for late submissions.

Deadlines:

I welcome:
  • Fiction and nonfiction writers
  • Marketing content writers
  • Businesses and professionals
  • Bloggers and content creators

If you're not sure if your project qualifies, just ask! Whatever your project, whether you are preparing a manuscript, blog post, or web content, I'm here to help ensure your work reads as clearly and confidently as you intend.

Who I work with:

INVOICING:
Larger projects will be invoiced every two weeks. Payments are due seven days after the invoice date. I respect your time and promise to keep to our deadlines, so I ask you to do the same—late payments will be subject to a late fee of 0.05% per week or $5 per week (whichever is greater).

Administrative Tasks—$25/hour. This rate accounts for any time I spend on your project outside of the copyediting or proofreading itself (e.g. reading your instructions, studying your style guides, managing files, and sending invoices and project reports)

Retainer Fee—25% of final cost estimate. Once I have provided you with your estimate (based on number of words and estimated time spent on administrative tasks), I do ask for a 25% retainer fee, which will go toward your final cost. The retainer is nonrefundable and just helps make sure we’re both committed and ready to dive in!

Alright, here's the part no one likes to talk about...money, so let's just dive in and get it over with. Let's talk rates.

REVISION RATES:
I take pride in ensuring your project is returned to you as clean and polished as possible. To accomplish this, I provide two full passes, which are included in the following prices:

       Copyediting Rate—
$0.035/word
       Proofreading Rate—$0.025/word

*Note: My copyediting services are completely separate from my proofreading services. I make every effort to catch all errors, but especially for manuscripts, I recommend you have it proofread by a different set of eyes (not mine) after the copy edit is complete. If you would like me to do both, please allow me at least a two-week break from your project between the copy edit and the proofread. I care about your work succeeding, and the best way to ensure that is to have each stage completed by a fresh set of eyes.

Pricing:

I specialize in copyediting and proofreading—different in the level of attention and refinement applied to your text but both essential steps used to finalize your draft and guide it to its final destination.

Copyediting
dives deeper than proofreading.  Like proofreading, it aims to correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling,  but unlike proofreading, it also refines word choice, ensures consistency in style and tone, and may also smooth out minor issues with sentence structure. Think of it as a detailed cleanup, not a full makeover.

Proofreading
is the final step in the writing process that catches any remaining errors missed during previous edits. I meticulously review your text for spelling errors, grammar and punctuation mistakes, typographical issues, formatting consistency, and misused words. Think of this as the final polish.

I do not offer developmental editing, line editing, or major content revisions. My goal is to give your nearly-finished writing a clean, professional clean-up and/or polish—nothing more, nothing less.

What I Do:

NOTE: This is not DEVELOPMENTAL OR LINE EDITING; my focus is on fine-tuning what’s already there And ensuring the content is clear and consistent.

At True North Revisions, I provide precise, thoughtful copyediting or proofreading to help your writing shine—without changing your voice or style.
